1.What constitutes a Smartkitchen Garden?

Ans: It’s a Polyhouse with poly carbonate sheet roof,   40 micron net cover, with seedlings in grow bags, composting systems, automated irrigation with timer control and a 200 liter water tank with pump.

 

2.What are the basic requirements to install a polyhouse?

Ans: What you need  is 20 square meter patio/balcony/roof with sunlight, water tap, electricity connection, smart phone and one passionate plant loving human!

 

3. How will I be supported?

Ans: Apart from installation, all our packages include a One Year support and hand holding that includes the following: Replenish Seedlings after harvest , Training on GAP and Support through online APP

 

4.How can Smart kitchen Garden help waste management in my community ?

Ans: Smart Kitchen is a  solution for waste management by bringing in a conservation culture into our very homes. The seeds of environment concern and preservation are sown into children when they actually are part of activities of segregation and recycling. Smart kitchen comes with an inbuilt organic composting unit for kitchen waste. Vermi compost and vermi wash that is generated from this system is used to fertigate the plants. The separated plastic waste may be cleaned and dried and given to Plastic Recycling units. Unless  every household commits to ensure proper segregation of waste and ensures that food waste is decomposed and recyclable waste reaches recyclers our waste management will continue to mount.

5.What is GAP?

Ans: GAP stands for the Good Agricultural Practices that is defined by the Expert panel from Agriculture universities and ICAR after extensive field trials. At GYOFOOD we practice GAP and we give you access to this through our training and online application.

6. Why are there ants in my beans?

Ans: The ants are there for the aphids. The aphids produce sugary substances that attract the ants.

Remedy-  foliar spray of Quinalphos @ 0.5g/ ltr.

7. Why are there spider webs in my plants?

Ans: there are spider mites which attract spiders.

Remedy-  foliar spray of Spiromesifen @ 0.5 g/ltr.

8. What are there fluffy white insects?

Ans: these fluffy white insects are mealy bugs which are sap sucking insects which are seen on leaves, stem and fruits.

Remedy- Quinalphos@ 0.5g/ltr.

9. What happens when Whitefly attack the plants?

Ans: These sap-sucking insects make the plants wilt.

Remedy- spiromesifen@ 0.5g/ltr.

10. Why do my leaves curl up?

Ans: This is when the plant is attacked by thrips. They are spread viral infection and cause damage to the plant.

Remedy- spiromesifen@ 0.5g/ltr.

11. What is the remedy for bean rust?

Ans: A foliar spray of a fungicide called Kavach is the remedial for bean rust.

12. Why do the older leaves turn yellow for vegetables?

Ans: Nitrogen deficiency causes this.

Remedy- Foliar spray of urea or potassium nitrate @2-3 g/ltr.

13. Why do the tomatoes tip rot?

Ans: This is due to Calcium deficiency.

Remedy- soil application of calcium nitrate@ 10- 20 g/ltr or Foliar spray of tag cal @ 3g/ltr.

14. Why are there white spots on the leaves of certain plants?

Ans: This is due to over watering and hence Iron Deficiency.

Remedy- Avoid over watering.

15. Why are there Yellow pattern in leaves ?

Ans: This is due to mosaic viral infection.

Remedy- Foliar spray of kurax@ 3g/ltr.
